So you have finally found a friend, or you yourself have just been welcomed to, the Multi Level Marketing family of Quixtar/Amway. These people have been around since when my mom was growing up, and maybe even her mom before that. You are checking out their catalog, or whatever, looking for your first case of something to buy, so you can start to fulfill your dreams of insane riches, or just to get your friend to quit bugging you about how cool, awesome and totally-not-joining-a-get-rich-quick-scheme Amway is.
Either way, your first tick on that order form should be a case of Lemon Blast Energy. I am a fan of many things lemony, but damn, this is some very tasty stuff.
I also hold no shame for enjoying XS drinks as much as I do. For all of their MLM-ness, They usually succeed in flavor, as I have tried about half a dozen of them. That's is why I have saved this flavor of XS for this long - to end on a high note. As expected, Lemon Blast proves to be delicious, fruity, citrus filled and full of adaptogens. If you managed to hunt down an Amway distributor, stock up on this one - the case will be gone before you know it.
Taste:10
The flavor is not too sticky and sweet, thanks to the non-caloric sweetener they chose to balance the natural lemon juice used. Lemon Blast is very refreshing, and would hold up very well in mixed drinks too. Of all the many yummy flavors of XS, this has got to be the best of them. There is a little carbonation, enough to give this a fizz but not enough to keep from slamming the entire small can in one go. The aftertaste is very light and lemony and the energy drink harshness is completely non-existant.
Packaging:8 With so many drinks discarding the little 8 ounce rockets and opting for the slim 12, 16 or even 18 ounce size,it still throws me when a company chooses to go with this small size. Still, as weth most of the XS line, the fonts and the layout are top notch - with everything turning out nicely. only ave 2 problems with this can. Firstly, there is no caffeine listing - so the drinker just has to guess at the amounts. The second problem is the lid, which is haphazardly put on.
Nutrition/Buzz:8
While I am left to guess at the caffeine amount, I am left with a very very mild buzz - although I expect that was more from the adaptogenic herb blend - much like what 5 hour energy uses. There is the standard energy ingredients in here, ginseng, an overdose of B vitamin complex, taurine and some L-Glutamine in there as well. While there is a tremendous amount of vitamin B, this does not contain all the other usual energy ingredients like taurine, inositol and Glucorolactone.
Even though the buzz is very mild, in this case it just means that it is possible to knock back 2 or 3 of them in an afternoon and not worry about getting too over-caffeinated.
