Pit Bull Cranberry Pink grapefruit energy drink

I have been looking for Pit Bull energy drinks for years and years. I tried a great energy bar they came out with and wanted more. I have written them a couple times in the past, and was met with silence. I don't mind silence, it just means that company does not want to get reviewed, or would prefer me to find and buy them if I can find them - and there is nothing wrong with that. Many companies just don't send out samples.

And then I received that wonderful email - followed by a box at the door. My first drink to try out, Cranberry Pink grapefruit, was worth the wait. Even if it looks Kinda funny, even if it is full of high fructose corn syrup - this has got to be one of the tastiest energy drinks I have ever had. This is a drink worth waiting for, a drink going out of your way for, something to have chilled in a glass and enjoyed. If all my experiences with Pit Bull are like my experience with Cranberry Pink Grapefruit, I am in for one enjoyable ride.

Taste:10
I'll get right to the point. This is one of the best tasting energy drinks I have had, period. While this has only "natural flavors" listed, it tastes just like you would imagine a cranberry pink grapefruit drink would taste. Although you would not, at first, think that these two flavors would marry well, when experiencing it the balance is perfection. This drink is sweet, but not overly so, tart without being sour, and just enough carbonation to help give the drink a lift. The samples of this flavor were drained from my house all too quickly - and I am afraid there is no Pit Bull distribution around me. I hear that you might find this at places in California, Arizona, Wisconsin, New Jersey and Southeast Florida. Maybe it is time for me to move...

Buzz:8
While this buzz from this could have been stronger, it was decent enough. This drink had what was expected from any energy drink, with 160mg of caffeine, ginseng, taurine inositol, glucurolactone and of course the whole host of vitamin Bs. In terms of nutrition, there is lot a whole lot of sugar and preservatives, so expect a big crash to pay for your fun time guzzling. I got about 3 hours of slightly restless energy, and was definitely more happy and alert from it too.

Packaging:6
For being a drink named Pit Bull, I expected this to be more urban, more in-your-face. Not really the case here though. There is some 80's video game lettering with a picture of the fruit, and a bunch of plusses all over it. Overall, I just don't get it. Personal taste, but the art just does not work for me.
But there is good to be had too! The can lid is facing the right way. The can is not double faced, but they list caffeine and all nutrients. Seeing as this drink is Southern Cali. based, it is an extra nice touch the drink is written in both Spanish and English. While I don't particularly like the art, the follow through on the technical aspects are dead on.

This drink has really set my expectations high for all the other flavors they have out there.
