I found myself accidentally spending the Sunday morning before St Patrick's day looking after a gaggle of kids with my wife, sitting on some curb ast an ungodly hour of the morning trying to figure out what I must have been thinking. Fortunately, I had enough brainpower to at least stumble out to the minivan, packed with kids and pumping out Radio Disney with AMP's new Mixed Berry Energy Juice. With Selena Gomez, Billy Ray Cyrus and Crazy Frog we made it downtown, and by the fourth or fifth blasting bagpipe troupe, I was mostly awake. Once the Shriner clown cars went past, I was actually awake and alert enough to enjoy myself.
AMP's new mixed berry energy juice did exactly what it promised, and kicks starts your system in a very cool and refreshing way.
Buzz/Nutrition:8
Here is a question for all you math wizzes out there. I have been told by various bosses and managers over the years that I should give 110%. Now, I understand his is not really possible, unless you start factoring Black holes and quantum physics. I found that same sort of logic going on here.
The label on the bottle lists this as 100% juice. I would ake that to mean that this whole bottle is made up of juice, and would contain 0% of things that are not juice - right? wrong.
This contains all sorts of non-juice items, like Guarana (not juice), artificial flavors (not juice) and modified food starch (can you make a juice from starchy food? mmmm potato juice...).
What it does have it a great dose of caffeine, plus a whole bunch of energy ingredients. There is a nice 120mg of caffeine, plus potassium and vitamins to help you recover from whatever bad decisions you made the night before. While you will never find this on the shelves of your local health food store, it makes a fantastic morning after recovery potion.
Taste:9
I did not know what to expect from this one, as the package again confuses. This drink is called mixed berry. I would expect i to tase like berries, right? wrong again. no berry here - just grape juice, orange juice and some other mixed fruits. Mind you, it tastes verry nice - but not berry nice (sorry - I just had to). It tasted nice enough, that when my wife asked for a taste, I was tempted to lie about the flavor and say it was nasty, just so I could hoard it all myself. If you are looking for a lovely energy mixed fruit juice, this is it!
Packaging:6
It lies lies lies. Lies about the 100% thing. Lies about the flavor. But it looks so nice! The pet bottle is the perfect size, and the graphics department at Pepsico have outdone themselves. But,like Hanna Montana, the beauty outside, and sweet and tangy insde are only marred by the deceptiveness that surrounds it. But, like her fan base - I can forgive if the end product is worth it.
( in case you did not see it, I am giving away some great AMP swag. I will pick a winner at random from any people who email me at bigredboots@gmail.com along with their favorite drink I have not gotten to in my reviews yet - so email me your favorites!)
