Shunga means porn. Acually, Shunga means "Image of Spring" in Japanese. Shunga are erotic paintings that were made from the 16th to 18th centuries. OK, they might now be called erotica, as they were paintings done by famous and talented artists - but they could get very very explicit. So, like Kama Sutra love oils, it was only a matter of time before they found a way to exploit he beautiful carnal art of ancient Japan into exotic energy drinks. Shunga is a Canadian company who produces aphrodisiac oils, edible body powders, oils and creams for erotic massages, love-enticing balm products, lubricants, and of course, energy drinks.
Shunga has both a male and female sex drink, both containing very different herbal extracts. Both promise a whole lot - more than I thought any small .75 ounce drink could ever do.
The woman's version is supposed to Increase sensitivity of the sexual region and strengthening of the vaginal wall, stimulate the central nervous system, control regulation of hormonal production and aide in remove your inhibitions. So it will make you wild, tingly, full of hormones and strengthen your vaginal walls. This has the ever popular aphrodisiac herbs Damiana, ashwaganda, although in small amounts. It also has herbs Caramuru and Clavo huasca, which are libido enhancers as well. And of course, Caffeine.
That ain't nothin' though. The men's version is supposed to help with erectile rigidity, give you Peter North style orgasms (look up the videos if you don't know what I mean) improve hormonal levels, testosterone and sexual desire. It has Epidenium to heighten tactile sensations; Maca to increase the libido; Tribulus: to keep men...In Control; and of course, caffeine.
How does it work? Not very well, unfortunately. Ms. Boots tried the women's and I tried the mens according to directions on he bottle. Actually, Ms. Boots overdid it and triple does herself for 3 days wih no effect. As for me, I took the remaining doses I had after my initial test and dumped 5 doses in one bottle of Diet Coke. Alas, I did not become a sex superhero. I did get a nice 3 hour buzz off it though. Too bad, as this stuff looks so beautiful.
The small container was decorated lovingly with traditional shunga art, and the labeling was very clear as to what you were taking and how much. I loved how it was in glass too - makes it look much more fancy and upscale.
As for the taste - don't try this by itself. However, in anything from coke to gin, this stuff rocks. The all natural herbal tinctures tasted like a vanilla cinnamon extract, only a bit more earthy. I loved the flavor enough that I could see having this on a daily basis in everything from juice to cocktails.
