Looking for alcoholic energy drinks is becoming something of an obsession. I guess that is what happens when the FDA threatens to shut them all down. I find myself going into the Wino-iest liquor stores I can find, looking at their 40s and 24 ounce cans for something unique and special.
And I am glad I did, for I found that many of them still possess Max drinks, made by the same folk who do Joose. Max is their girl friendly packages of more or less the same liquid. I don;t mind though, as the purple dragon Joose flavor is one of my all-ime favorites. That bodes well for Max Live, one of the best caffeinated drunks you can get for under 3 bucks.
Buzz:8
Max Live has 12% alcohol content. That is a crazy amount, especially when you add in the caffeine, plus taurine and ginseng. There is about 10 big gulps in here - as this is a chugging drink. While I can't see this being the drink of choice for cheapskate dudes (that is wehat Max's sister, Joose is for), I can see the ladies getting sh*tfaced after downing 2 or 3 of these. After two cans of this, anyone will be getting brainless, with more than enough energy to spare. My guess is there is about 35-40mg of caffeine per serving in here, so it is about as much caffeine buzz as drinking 3 Diet Cokes.
Taste:8
It's not bad - but understand that is for alcoholic energy drink standards. That is like saying Wild Irish Rose is the tastiest of all the Under 4 Dollar Bum Wines out there - you gotta have perspective. It tastes like carbonated Purple Passion, or Dragon Joose, which works best because of the high alcohol content. This is much much more straightforward than wine coolers or Mikes Hard Lemonade, this is certainly drinkable to get the job done.

Like the other Max flavors, his can is very nicely done. . The huge can is triple faced, and visually intense with lots of purple . Of course, it mentions that it "Contains Alcohol", which does not matter as hey are bound to get in trouble with the FDA anyways. This one has a great hip-hop/rave feel, that would be great at big electronica dances or concerts.
