Finally, ZizzZazz is here! I have been dying to try this stuff since I heard about it almost a year ago. Now that I have a couple flavors to try, I found them hanging out in three different 7elevens in my area. This is a pleasing thing - as I will definitely by buying these up in the near future.
This is supposedly a company run by Nelly, or Pimp Juice fame. But unlike Crunk!!!, I could not find any real tie ins between the mix and the artist. This is just a really tasty punch drink mix - full of vitamins and caffeine and tasty smiles.
Packaging:9
.25 oz foil packet - which is very nice for keeping out the elements. I ended up getting a large pack and bringing it up to the mountains for my son's Bar Mitzvah in the hills of the Rocky mountains. It not only proved extra tasty when people from Jersey needed that little lift to help them recover from walking 9000 feet higher than they were used to, but the little packs kept their shape and taste while being kept out in the sun and getting drenched with rain for a couple hours too.
Taste: 8
Lately, I have been having these mixes that create a nasty foam at the top or grunge at the bottom. Zizzazz did neither, dissolving in seconds and made everything a lovely Kool Aid Strawberry Orange color. As for the flavor, it was not at all what I was expecting. It did not really taste much like mangoes or pomegranates in the traditional sense. IT was more like a Mango Pom Hawaiian Punch - tasting really good and sweet, but not really like a juice. While these were not flavors I would crave, Id certainly never turn one down. Then again, I never turn ANYTHING down. hey - I review energy drinks, I am sure my taste buds have been cauterized by too much citric acid and carbonation years ago.....
They kept advertising that you could eat these right out of the package, like a grownup pixie sticks. So far, the only thing like that i could stomach was the Orange Soda flavored Zipfizz tubes - so I was excited to give this a try. Unfortunately, the sucralose sugar substitutes made this a bitter yucky handful. While the makers have probably gotten used to it enough to much out of the pack - the flavor really does not hold up out of water.
Buzz/Nutrition:8
There is great buzz to be had from one of these packets too. With 200mg of caffeine , plus maltodextrin, taurine, glucuronolactone, B vitamin complex, ginseng and green tea extract it covers all the standard energy drink ingredients, and while not explosive, these can a good 3 - 4 hours of alertness.
As for the nutrition, these are pretty loaded with beta carotene, Vitamin A,C and E , rhodiola rosea extract and niacin. With a little trace minerals I could just stop taking my daily multivitamin. Seriously good job on the vitamin front.
