Fever Stimulation Beverage

Last time I tried a stimulation beverage, I was at home, with the kids all asleep with hours until bedtime. This was totally the wrong way to try out a drink with aphrodisiac qualities. Heck, even just seeing Victoria Stillwell on Animal Planet would have been enough to put me in the mood. This time, however, I put the new love drink "Fever" to the real test. I took it into my morning developer meeting, where the most arousing thing is the intersection of various coding principles. If this drink made me feel anything at all, that would be something! Fortunately for my coworkers, the only thing this drink did was leave me with a pleasant aftertaste and a full stomach.

Fever Stimulation Beverage is a functional beverages that is not only supposed to enhance male and female libido, but also balance the central nervous system and create a feeling of happiness and warmth.
The CEO of Fever states "It gives you a warm, tingly feeling or sensation. Sensation wanting to touch, wanting to feel intimate. It makes you feel good more than anything else." Well, I sat there waiting to feel stimulated or warm and fuzzy - and being as suggestable as I am I triple guessed myself as to whether I felt something or just thought I felt something, or whether that little something I felt was actually felt or just because I thought I SHOULD feel something. Either way, this is a great tasting healthy beverage that looks awesome. I would certainly get this again if I could find a way to cut the calorie count in half.

Nutrition/Buzz:8
This bottle contains a bunch of natural ingredients, some of which just tastes great and others that are supposed to give you a lift (hehe - I could not resist). For an energy drink - this would suck - having only 34 milligrams of caffeine from green tea, according to energyfiend.com. It also contains Ginseng, Horny Goat Weed, Clavo Huasca, Catuaba, Damiana Leaf, and Suma Maca. That's a whole host of ingredients, most of which can be used for sexual prowess, but not in these small doses.
The big problem is this - there are a whopping 240 calories per 14oz bottle. That is a HUGE amount of calories to have to take, especially because knocking down 2 of these in an evening is tantamount to munching a big mac and trying to feel sexy.
Even if this does not sex you up, if you can find the sugar free version I would jump on it.

Packaging:10
One of the best things about Fever is the cool packaging it comes in. Like Venom, this drink comes in an awesome aluminum cooler can, and as an added bonus Fever logo on the bottle glows in the black light so you will never lose your Fever.

Barry Edelstein, president and chief operating officer said “We wanted a package that would also be unique, project a premium image for our alternative beverage, and help keep the beverage cold longer. The aluminum bottle really fit the bill because it has a brushed steel look with high-end graphics. We also like the feel of the heavier aluminum bottle....We chose a 14-ounce bottle so that it would be unique and stand out from other alternative beverage products. Furthermore, it offers consumers more product than similarly priced 8- and 12-ounce bottles or cans". Its not just rhetoric either. I did not get to this drink for a while, so it sat on my desk for over an hour. When I did get to it, it was still extra chilly.

Taste: 7
This is one of those things you either love or despise - depending on your taste buds. First, it is non-carbonated, and it really should be. The taste lends itself really well to other sodas, and even though that makes the drink stand out, it is much harder to get down and ends up tasting more flat than juicy. The bottle lists this as having a vanilla ginger flavor profile - which does not really prepare you for what this is. It is very strong and very sweet as well as spicy from the ginger. The closest thing I could get to this would be a strong flat ginger beer - although it tastes a little more complex. With most drinks I would understand why there is no carbonation, but I don't see why not in this beverage. Mixing this with a little sparkling water made it 10 times more palatable. Still, I appreciate the uniqueness and willingness to go out on the edge a it and try a flavor that has never been done before.
